• Variety diversification:
- Dominance of one particular variety increases the risks of uncontrollable
environmental factors such as disease outbreak i.e. sizable yield losses.
- Provision for proper crop planning i.e. planning the planting and harvesting
operations according to different maturity times of different varieties. This is the
way of exploiting the maximum sugar yield from the cane crop.
It is worth mentioning that a number of innovated varieties were bred and developed by Research Department and which are currently and throughout the history of KSC contributing significantly to the sustainability of production e.g. Co 6806, Co 997, R579, TUC 75-3, KnB03-1184, KnB01-619, etc… in addition to a number of promising varieties.
